How to Make a Pom Pom Paper Thistle
The national emblem of Scotland, the beautiful thistle is the perfect flower for inspiring your St Andrew's Day craft ideas! This pom pom thistle is a fun and speedy project to make and is a great way to celebrate St Andrew's Day with the kids.
It's a wonderful introduction to making pom poms, too! They'll look beautiful however you choose to display them once you've finished making.

Using a small pom pom maker create a purple pom pom by wrapping the yarn around the maker and following the instructions on the packet.
Take the green card and then fold it in half. Cut out a small leaf shape (which because you've folded the card, will give you two identical leaves) These are for the top of the thistle, then cut some bigger ones for the stem. Cut some notches along the edges of the bigger leaves.
Fold all the leaves in half lengthwise to create a 3D shape.
Apply a sticky dot to the end of the wooden stick and then attached the two smaller leaves onto it.
Stick on the lower leaves and then add another sticky dot to the centre of the top leaves and stick on the pom pom to finish.
