Planuary Recap

In case you missed it, we recently hosted our first ever Planuary – an online event designed to help independent businesses get ahead in 2024 with a range of free webinars jampacked with knowledge.

From strategy planning and trends to branding and even Pinterest, we covered a wide range of topics. If you missed out or simply wish to refresh your memory, our roundup of the key takeaways provides a handy guide to each webinar!

Don’t forget, you can still watch the sessions. They’re FREE for everyone, whether you’re a budding small business owner or if you’re looking to grow your existing business to dizzying heights in 2024.

Here’s just a few of the top tips we learned from our experts:

Trends and Planning:

Before you start planning for the year ahead, reflection is key for making sure you’re only bringing positive actions to your business in 2024. To build the perfect plan, think about things like your best-selling and worst-selling items, ask for customer feedback, and don’t forget to set tangible goals that you can measure this time next year.

When it comes to what’s trending, this year is feeling very crafty – from search data at Hobbycraft showing crochet is growing more than ever to expert research showing that you will be sick of bows by the end of the year.

Branding your business:

In this session, our core learning from branding expert Aiza was to take the time to figure out what your branding should look like by really tapping into all areas of your business. Her pie analogy provided a helpful way to understand what ingredients go into the perfect brand identity.

If you’re struggling to get started, keep it simple. All Aiza really recommends is a core colour palette and a strong logo.

Pinterest 101:

Did you know that 85% of Pinterest users have purchased something based on a pin they saw on the platform? We didn’t either until Rachel Waring showed us the true marketing power of Pinterest.

Her biggest tip? Switch to a business profile and start thinking of your boards and pin titles as key search terms. Could your target audience already be searching for your products on Pinterest, but poor naming conventions mean you’re missing out on sales.

How to get stocked in shops:

We’ve all dreamt of having our handmade items stocked in our favourite shops and this session with wholesale specialist Therese Ortenbald gave us all the knowledge we needed to realise it’s possible.

From planning your pricing to include wholesale costs to understanding how to contact shops, this one is a must-watch for brand who are determined to see their products on more than just digital shelves in 2024.
