How to Make a Macramé Hat Accessory
Update your summer style this year with a macramé hat that's sure to make a statement!
This project is easy to make and perfect for giving an old hat a new lease of life. You could even recreate this project in a range of colours to match every outfit.

You will need
Circumference of the hat 58cm
Cut the following lengths:
10 x 3.5 mt Return of the Mac in Ecru
Place the strings next to each other, measure 40cm from one end and fix them on the flat surface with masking tape.
Take string #5 as a guide and make a diagonal line of double half hitch knots going from the centre to the left.
Repeat on the opposite side
Take string #5 as a guide and make a new diagonal line of double half hitch knots below the previous one, going from the centre to the left using only 3 strings- don't use the guide string from the previews diagonal.
Repeat on the opposite side.
Take the four strings in the middle and tie a Square Knot.
Take string #2 and tie a diagonal line of Double Half Hitch knots going towards the centre.
Repeat on the opposite side and close the diamond.
Take string #1 and tie a diagonal line of Double Half Hitch knots below the previews one, going towards the centre.
Repeat on the opposite side and close the diamond.
Continue making a pattern of diamonds following STEP 2-10 until you go around the hat and you have a gap of about 10cm between the diamonds.
Continue one of the diagonal line of Double Half hitch Knots until it reaches the opposite side.
Repeat on the other side.
Place the macrame on the hat and join the ends with a Square Knot underneath the diagonal lines, using two strings from each side.
Tie two alternating Square Knots below and then a final Square knot.
Trim the excess strings at the desired length.
