How to Make a Macrame Onion Holder
Keep your kitchen tidy and stylish with this macrame onion holder! In just an afternoon, you can update your kitchen and organise your all-important ingredients. This project would also be great for keeping your fruit tidy – or why not make one as a wine carrier to give as a gift!

*Measuring tape
*Masking tape
*Darning needles
Cut
8 x 3mt of string
1 x 1.5mt of string
Lay the 8 strings on a flat surface and fix them in the middle with a piece of masking
tape.
Tie a row of two sinnets of Square knots.
Tie an alternating Square knot with the 4 strings in the middle.
Next, tie a row of two sinnets of Square knots.
Tie an alternating Square knot with the 4 strings in the middle.
Next, tie a row of 2 Square knots.
Repeat Step 5 & 6 going in the opposite direction.
Fold the macrame in half, leave a gap of 2/3cm and tie a Square knot on the side using two strings from the left and two from the right.
Repeat step 8 on the other side and with the remaining strings, to tie a row of 4 Square knots.
Leave a gap of 4cm and make a row of alternative sinnets of 2 Square knots.
Tie 5 rows of alternative sinnets of 2 Square knots.
Split the strings in half. Under two of the sinners tie an alternating Square knot in the middle.
Next, tie a row of 2 Square knots.
Tie one last alternating Square knot.
Repeat Step 12-14 with the remaining strings.
Start from one set of string and tie a braid about 30cm long. Tape the end with masking tape
Repeat Step 16 on the other side.
Bring the braids ends together, remove the masking tape.
Take the 1.5 mt of string and make a Square knot over all the strings ends. Start under one of the braids.
Tie 5 Square knots, more if you require.
Tuck the ends at the back of the Square knot with a weaving needle. Trim the ends.
Trim the rest of the strings at the desired length.
