How to make
Select, measure and cut out your fabrics. For each table mat you will need:
- Each rainbow stripe (I used 10 different colours) 3cm x 32cm
- 2 x front side cream pieces 15cm x 32cm
- 1 piece for the cream back 32cm x 48cm
Using a 0.5cm seam allowance, sew the central rainbow strips together in rainbow 'order' – or however you like, using a simple running stitch.
You might find it easier to sew each strip by pressing the rainbow as you go along.
Continue until all the rainbow stripes are sewn together.
Press the rainbow.
Sew a side piece to each side of the central rainbow.
Place the back piece on to the front piece right sides together.
Leaving a 1cm seam allowance, sew all the way around the edge leaving enough room to turn out the right way before pressing.
Using a 0.5cm seam allowance, sew all the way around the edge to finish and secure your threads. You could use a decorative stitch if you would like!
