How to make
Now time to create your felt letters.
Cut and add a piece of HeatNBond to the white felt. On the reverse side (the HeatNBond side) place the letters mirrored to the sheet.
Trace around the letters using a pencil.
Cut out each letter.
Now let's start stitching!
Starting with a Satin Stitch, bring the needle up at the centre of the star and insert directly across.
Pull the thread all the way through.
Bring the needle back up, very close to the first stitch, again insert directly across.
Repeat until you have filled the star.
Next, add a back stitch around the star.
Start at the top, bringing the needle up through the fabric and back through a short distance along the line. Bring the needle back up the same distance above and insert back through so that the lines join.
Repeat along the outline.
Then repeat for the other stars.
Repeat for the second flag with the star design, and the flag with the flower design.
Next we will begin the brick stitch on the next design.
Start with a single stitch. As with Back Stitch, bring the needle up and insert back where the last stitch finished.
Continue along the first line.
Start the next row, adding the first stitch so that it finishes in the middle of the one next to it.
Repeat to complete the second line. They will create a brick like effect.
Repeat again to complete the third line.
Repeat for the other sun beams.
Use the same technique to fill the centre of the sun, leaving the gaps for the face detail.
Add the single stitches for the eyes and back stitch for the mouth.
For the sun and cloud design, brick stitch the sun as above and satin stitch the cloud.
We will now create the Stars & Moon flag.
Add single stitches crossed over to create the stars.
Satin stitch the cloud.
Brick stitch the moon.
Brick stitch the rainbow.
Satin stitch the clouds.
Satin stitch the centre of the lemon.
For the edge of the lemon, use a Chain Stitch: Do one small stitch, then bring the needle up a short distance above, and thread under the stitch.
Pull through and insert the stitch back through at the same point above.
Pull through, then thread the needle through the last looped stitch.
Repeat the stitches until you have completed the full outline.
Add single stitches for the seeds.
Repeat the strawberry for the other fruit flag, satin stitch the cherry, using back stitch for the stems.
