These mini clay plant pots are the perfect accessory for your tiny succulents.

Step 1

Work out the circumference of the cardboard tube. Then place the clay between 2 sheets of cling film and roll out to a thickness of 5-7mm. Cut 2 rectangles from the clay. The length should be the same as the circumference of the tubes with an additional 5mm. Cut one rectangle 6cm wide and the other 9cm wide.

Step 2

Wrap the clay around each of the tubes, lining the bottom of the clay up with one end of the tube. Press the ends together and seal with a little water if necessary.

Step 3

To make the base, Place the tube of clay back onto the remaining rolled out clay and press down gently. Cut around the tube of clay. Use a little more water to smooth the edges together. Leave in a warm place to dry overnight.

Step 4

Gently ease the tube out of the clay. If there are any rough edges, you can gently sand your pots with some fine sand paper.

Step 5

Put masking tape over the outside of the pots to create a random geometric pattern.

Step 6

Paint each segment created by the masking tape. The beauty of this is that you don't need to be at all neat!

Step 7

Once the paint is dry, remove the masking tape to reveal your art. Paint a little Mod Podge on to the outside and inside the pot, to add gloss and make the pots more resistant to water.

Step 8

Line the pots with cling film then gently add your plants. They will need watering regularly due to their mini size!
