Hi, I’m Sylvia Wade from Hobbycraft Banbury. I have always loved everything arty-crafty! My earliest memories include drawing and painting with my dad and learning knitting and embroidery from my mum - though this did result in her embroidery silks becoming a bit of a bird's nest! As a child I taught myself to crochet and as a student I made many of my own clothes, often transforming charity shop bargains before “upcycling” was a thing!

Sleeping Beauty
This is a detail from a lift the flap/ pop up book I made for my daughter. It is watercolour & ink on watercolour paper. Baby Sleeping Beauty can be glimpsed through a layer of vellum that opens to reveal her properly once the flower flaps are all opened. Each flower flap has a fairy wish on the back. The book itself was made using various papercraft techniques to bind it and to make interactive features.
