For the price, I thought the Hobbycraft 32S was worth a try and I’m so glad I did. The machine was really easy to set up. Five minutes and I was ready to sew. The double lift on the foot made it really easy to get four layers of denim under the foot and the machine powered through all 32 stitch options really easily using the foot and needle that came with the machine. The feet are easy to slide on and off and with an ultra glide foot, I achieved perfect top stitching on a faux leather bag handle. This machine does all I need it to do and more. I can’t wait to make my first denim rucksack and try some dress making.

The lassie in the shop was incredibly helpful and chatted to me about how I’d be using the machine and then showed me lots of models and explained them with enough information to keep my interest but didn’t overload me. It was actually a very quick and easy decision to choose a machine with her help whereas before I just stood there in confusion. The machine is amazing and feels lovely to work with. I’ve always borrowed sewing machines from family so I’m really excited to now have my own one. My first project turned out fantastic, thank you!!

I did experience a few hiccups along the way, which I put it down to the fact that I hadn't used a sewing machine for over 45 years. I had the instruction manual at hand and managed to solve any of the issues I had created by my lack of experience with the sewing machine. I used the buttonhole foot for the first time the other day, and after a few practice runs, I was able to use on a small dress.
