The successor to our bestselling Midi machine, the 12S can be used for basic clothing repairs, as well as dressmaking and more. It is suitable for lightweight projects, allowing you to gain familiarity with machine sewing. The machine features both forward and reverse sewing.

With the added advantage of both one-step button sewing and a four-step buttonhole, this small machine is great way to get into the world of sewing.

Taken back and the store manager questioned how we had used it, although we didn’t even reach removing the test fabric. They agreed to replace it but when we asked them to test the second machine, there was the same issue with the power. Clearly a manufacturing fault, I would guess with the power supply.

The overall feel of the machine is quite robust even though it is quite light. The light weight means that it's easy to get out and pack away when you need to. It has a tiny foot pedal which again is very light so doesn't always stay in place.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Justjen from Unfit for purpose I dont think i would buy this even for a child. Not suitable for sewing anything other than light material. Extremely small and quite challenging to mamage as an adult. The pedal is flimsy and not very sensitive. The backward stitch puckers the material. The material catches when it goes through. I wish id retained the box as i would have returned it. I bought it for simple mending jobs on split seams for example and it is absolutely unfit for purpose. The spools which come in the bundle don't fit properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Peedofd from Hopeless! Came threaded up with piece of fabrc in it, is that nirmal? Tried it out and after 1 second, the thread broke. Spent about 45 mins trying to thread the needle sgain. An ant with a telescope couldn't thread this! I had to remove needle to thread it with threader. Also, i accidentally loosened the presser foot, and after 2 hours, stll cant get it back on! Its going back tomorrow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Golden Girl from Great little Purchase A great little machine for the money, and I am also a learner, re- visiting what I learnt at School. Made a few nice, simple things with it already.. Just one little complaint with it, it won't let you pull the Thread out far enough, before Needle starts to bend to cut it. Other than that, it's a great little machine for a beginner like me. Good value.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ladybird579 from Not Great For What I wanted It For. I bought this to save my bigger, much older machine from my sewing on paper for junk journal making. I was told by crafters it sews great on paper. It doesn't. However it is not the same as the HobbyCraft Midi they have. There is no handle on it and the threading is different. It's impossible to set up the tension right and it jams all the time and bunches the cotton under the presser foot. The stitch select dial is out of line so the stiches were not the ones I choose. I ruined several pieces of ephemera on it and went back to my old machine which breezed it. Debating returning it.
