Step 4

Step 5

Press the length of fabric in half lengthwise and press

Step 6

Cut a 175cm length of macrame cord and cut with a pair of scissors

Step 7

Open the fabric up and place the cord inside

Close the fabric up and pin as close to the cord as you can to keep it in place

Using a zipper foot stitch as close to create your piping

Step 8

Snip off the excess fabric leaving around 1 inch

Fold the excess in half and press in place creating a nice, crisp edge

Place the opposite end of the piping into the folded excess and ensure the macrame cord inside is touching, pin in place – make sure this isn't twisted before continuing to the next step

Stitch in place, creating a large, continuous loop

Step 9

Lay the piping loop on the cushion back and pin in place, then snip the corners so the curve sits flat and then pin in place

Step 10

Stitch the piping to the cushion front following your previous stitches as a guide

Step 11

Cut your fat quarter in half length-wise using the print as a guide

Fold one lengthwise edge on each piece over by 1cm and press in place. Fold over by another 1cm and press again to hide the frayed edge

Step 12

Pin your zip in place using the folded edge ad your guide and sew in place using a zipper foot

Step 13

Take the other piece of fabric and place the folded edge over the zip, pinning in place by the stitch line, when finished, this flap will conceal the zip

Sew in place as close as possible, ensuring you can still open and close the zip

Step 14

Right sides facing, pin together the front and the back of the cushion, ensuring the zip is slightly open so you can turn it the right way round – sew in place

Step 15
