You will need
30.5cm Rattan Wreath
1 spool of Trimits string 4mm natural colour
2 Eucalyptus artificial bunch
Masking Tape
Scissors
Cutting nippers/Side Cutter Pliers
Cut the following lengths:
2 x 35cm
16 x 240cm
1 x 100cm
Fix one of the 35cm strings on a flat surface with masking tape and add 8 x 240cm strings onto it using Lark’s Head Knot.
Remove the masking tape and wrap your macrame around the wreath. Tie a knot at the back with the top string.
Tie rows of Alternating Square Knots around the wreath until you have covered one-quarter of the wreath.
Gathered all the strings, and with the 100cm string, tie a Gathering Knot
Trim the long stem of the eucalyptus. Turn the wreath and tuck the eucalyptus at the back of the macrame and inside the wreath.
Cut a 15-20cm piece of string and split it into a few strands to be used to fix the eucalyptus to the wreath.
Wrap the eucalyptus leaves at the front of the wreath and tie the main stems onto the wreath.
Trim smaller stems of eucalyptus from a new brunch and add them to the wreath to hide the strings and fill any gaps, especially next to the macrame.
NOTE: We naturally dyed a recycled sari ribbon we had in our craft stash.
Tutorial for solar dyeing
Use the dry skin of 3-5 onions (the more you use the more intense the colour will be)
Place them in a jar with hot water
Add your ribbons
Mix
Leave on your window sill for 3-5 days, stir every day
Once you are happy with the colours, dry the ribbons
Take the ribbon and tie a bow over the gathering knot for the final touch
