How to make

Knitting the Cushion

Using 6.5mm needles, cast on 46 stitches in C1.

 

Row 1 (RS): k46 in C1

Row 2 (WS): p46 in C1

Row 3 (RS): p46 in C2

Row 4 (WS): k46 in C2

 

Rep last 4 rows 17 more times (72 rows in total)

 

Rep Row 1 and 2 once (74 rows total)

 

Cast off all stitches.

 

Repeat steps for second side of cushion.

Making Up the Cushion

Seam the edges of the cushion together using mattress stitch, leaving a gap for stuffing.

 

Then, fill the cushion with toy filling.

 

Seam the gap to finish and weave in ends.

Knitting the Bow

Using 6.5mm needles, cast on 30 stitches in C3.

 

Knit 170 rows.

 

Cast off all stitches.

 

Sew the cast on edge to the cast off edge, creating a wide tube.

Knitting the Bow Tie

Using 6.5 needles, cast on 8 stitches in C3.

 

Knit 24 rows.

 

Cast off all stitches.

Making Up the Bow

Gather the tube in the centre to create a bow shape.

 

Wrap the bow tie around the centre of the bow, turn it over and sew the cast on edge to cast off edge of the bow tie (holding the piece together).

 

Weave in all ends.

Knitting the Ribbon

Cast on 20 stitches in C3.

 

Knit 180 rows.

 

Cast off all stitches

Finishing Up the Cushion

Wrap ribbon around the cushion vertically so the ends meet in the centre of the front piece.

 

Gather the ends of the ribbon to create a slightly pleated effect.

 

Sew the first pleated edge to the cushion.

 

Then, sew the second pleated edge to both the cushion and the other edge.

 

Place the bow on top of the pleated section and sew it on.

 

Weave in all ends.
