How to Make a Festive Macramé Wreath

Cut five 2.5m pieces of string and tie them on the metal loop using the lark's head knot.

Take string #5 as the guide make a diagonal line of double half hitch knots using string #4, #3, #2, and #1.

Repeat on the opposite side using string #6 as the guide.

Use the four strings in the middle and tie a square knot between the two diagonal lines.

Tie two alternating square knots below.

Tie one alternating square knot below. You have made a diamond of square knots.

Make two diagonal lines of double half hitch knots to close the diamond.

Leave a gap of 2 or 3 cm and make a diamond of square knots.

Repeat step 2-8

Cut four 4m pieces of string. Tie two on each side of your macrame using the lark's head knot.

Take the last four strings on the right and tie half square knots until you reach the desired length.

Repeat on the left side.

Cut the fringe and you can add the longest pieces of strings next to the half square knots or cut four 1.3m strings and add two on each side of your macrame using the lark's head knot.

Make a small bunch of white berries, eucalyptus, and rosemary and tie on the left side of your metal loop with a piece of thin string (at about 9 o'clock).

Make a new bunch and add it below so that the greenery covers the string from the bunch above.

Make a longer bunch that covers the top of the macrame and tie on next to the half square knots on the right side.

Make a new bunch and add it on the right of the macrame piece pointing right.

Add a few more bits of greenery to cover the white strings and tie them at the back of the bunches of greenery.

Keep adding more greenery until you are happy with the final look.

Cut a piece of string or use a cut off to make a lark's head knot at the top of the loop, tie a simple knot and the wreath is ready to be hung.

Handle the wreath with care once the leaves start to dry.
