Who said pumpkins have to be orange? These neutral sock pumpkins will add an autumnal look to your interior without clashing with your colour scheme. Repurpose last year's cosy socks or use the sleeve of an old jumper to make the perfect fabric pumpkins.

These pumpkins look their best when displayed together, so make a few in different sizes and colours, then pop them around the house to embrace the new season.

Step 1

Step 2

Take one piece of the sock and turn it inside out.

With a needle and thread, sew a running stitch around one of the open ends (leave a 1.5cm seam allowance).

Step 3
Pull the thread to gather the fabric together and close the gap. Once it is pulled tightly, secure the thread with a couple of stitches.

Step 4
Turn the sock back the correct way and you’ll notice you now have a little pocket.

Step 5

Fill the sock pocket with some polyester filling.

Tip: To make your pumpkins different sizes, add more filling to some than others.

Step 6

Sew the pumpkin closed. Use the same running stitch to gather the top of the sock together.

Step 7

When the gap is closed, tuck the gathered seam allowance inside.

Secure tightly with a few stitches.

Step 10

Step 11
Repeat this until you have six sections and tie off the yarn to secure.
